My name is Shawn Aukai Christensen and I’m running for the office of State Representative for the 51st District
I believe culture and history are so integral to a community that knowing who we
are, where we come from and where our future lies is vital to all of us.
Therefore, I will work to preserve our cultural heritage and foster its growth
by establishing heritage festivals and living libraries where our tales and
stories can be shared and passed down from one generation to another.
Sadly, as our kapuna pass on, the history and their life experiences pass with
them. I will work to acquire funding to begin the process of building a
cultural center in our district. A place where Halaus can come and practice
where our song and dance can be seen and heard.
